QZ virtual gearing not working in Zwift with mixed device sources

Hi,

I am trying to use QZ (qdomyos-zwift) together with Zwift for virtual gear shifting.

My equipment:

• Bike: Cardio Power B40 (shows up as iconsole+0030 Bluetooth)
• QZ running on iPhone 14 Pro Max (iOS 26.4.2)
• Zwift running on Android (Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro, Android 16 BP2A.250605.031.A3)

My situation:
My bike connects correctly and Zwift receives Power and Cadence data without issues. The trainer also correctly adjusts resistance during rides in Zwift.

My goal:
I do NOT necessarily need ERG mode or automatic resistance control from Zwift.
My main goal is to use QZ virtual gears/shifting to simulate gear changes, since my bike does not have physical gear shifting. This is mainly to avoid very low cadence on climbs and reduce knee discomfort.

I am trying to understand whether QZ virtual gearing is expected to work in this setup, and what is missing in my current configuration.

Current Zwift device mapping:

• Power Source: QZ Bluetooth
• Resistance: QZ Bluetooth
• Cadence: Wahoo Kickr WiFi
• Controls: no
• Heart Rate: QZ Bluetooth

Zwift is therefore splitting data sources between QZ and another device, and does not recognize a single unified controllable trainer. As a result, “Controls” is disabled and QZ virtual gearing does not appear to activate as expected.

It seems the issue may be related to how Zwift handles multiple simultaneous data sources rather than the bike hardware itself.

Questions:

1. Can QZ virtual gears work without Zwift showing a controllable device?
2. Is this limitation related to Zwift multi-source device handling or QZ configuration?
3. Are there recommended settings for a setup where QZ is used primarily for virtual gearing?

Hi you don't have zwift click or play right? So simply enable the gear tile or the big gear tile in the tiles settings in qz to have virtual gearing

I don’t have Zwift Click or Play. I want to virtually shift gears since my trainer doesn’t support gear shifting, although resistance is controlled automatically by Zwift. Can QZ simulate virtual gearing?
