Unbundle makeself archive

Hi,

What is the recommended way to extract the archive without causing side effects, such as executing scripts? I'd like to convert the .run file back into plain tar files, so I’m looking for a tool similar to rpm2cpio in the RPM package world.

Easiest is to use the --noexec flag when extracting the archive, i.e. ./archive.run --noexec which disables calling any builtin scripts. Though that will just extract the files and still execute the extraction commands on your behalf.
