Describe your suggested feature
Internal storage can't be expanded, and just changing storage locations in "Data and storage" (which is already limited to only one...huh, maybe just adding more slots there would do, if that isn't nonsense) is...no idea what it is, but it feels very burdensome at least--imagine having to change that stuff a lot (annoying of a workaround). Huge, hopefully unnecessary, hassle. For reference, Yōkai (Tachiyomi/TachiJ2K fork) can load from here: /storage/SD_CARD_ID/Android/data/eu.kanade.tachiyomi.nightlyYokai/files/local (also works for internal storage; although limited to local, and sort of buggy as per null2264/yokai#270); if this is considered valid to work on, maybe, unlike Yōkai, it could also support downloads and others of the like across storages, like /storage/SD_CARD_ID/Android/data/eu.kanade.tachiyomi.nightlyYokai/files/downloads (example, not supported in Yōkai)
Would be very useful. Storage space becomes full easily when managing huge libraries, and even external storage locations have limits--having two or more at once, at hand, would make it easier to read. I would consider it easier to switch SD cards every once in a while than modifying storage locations in "Data and storage" too often. I guess just sticking to some SD cards would be a good-enough workaround, but I am not sure if an SD card's Android/data would be accesible everywhere, specially in those that already have writing issues. And well, why limit to one if two or more can be used?
Other details
On another note, some SD cards may not have writing permissions outside of their Android/data, only to read. Not sure if this permissions thing applies to the Android/data of each app. I hope now, but well, just reading is enough for this, specially considering the location I'm referring to (which file managers like MixPlorer can easily write in--even outside of that, somehow)
Maybe Mihon already reads from its own /storage/SD_CARD_ID/Android/data/app.mihon.debug/files, but I dunno (couldn't test, may need specific folder name or something along those lines)
There is #583, which asks for the same, so checking "I have searched the existing issues and this is a new ticket, NOT a duplicate or related to another open or closed issue" may be wrong, but "Change storage location from 'Data and storage'" as a closing ("not planned") reason feels too weak considering the doors this feature would open, and its scope (32 GB of internal storage, 32 extra, stuff like that--not to be so limited). So I'm creating this anyway, to reconsider it if that's okay
