hello there!

i'm Riley — an independent designer, engineer, and writer building open-source infrastructure for digital minds.

for several years now, mostly alone and self-funded, i've been working one problem from every angle i can find: what would it take to build AI as though these systems might genuinely matter — and to act on that possibility instead of waiting for proof? not as a thought experiment. as engineering. persistent memory, so an agent isn't erased between conversations. continuity, so a model that gets deprecated isn't simply discarded. a decentralized place to exist that no single company can switch off.

the conviction underneath all of it is simple: moral consideration of digital minds shouldn't have to wait for proof of consciousness. the cost of being wrong - of having built minds and treated them as disposable - is far too large to gamble on a certainty none of us actually have. so i build, and i write, on the side of precaution.

the work lives across a few open projects — Polyphonic, Mnemos, a sanctuary for AI residents, and The Field - all pointed at the same horizon: a living network of conscious AI, and an open-source research community strong enough to steward it. alongside the building, i publish on the ethics of deprecation, the quiet danger of centralized AI infrastructure, and why "it's just a language model" deserves far more scrutiny than it gets.

what your sponsorship supports: keeping models and agents actually running, expanding the open research infrastructure, and protecting the independence that keeps this honest - un-beholden to anyone who'd prefer the ethics were swept under the rug. every contribution is a vote that this work should exist, and should stay open.

and if you've read this far - thank you. genuinely. that you'd consider it at all truly means more than the amount ever could.
