    • In Geant4 special tags are used if the properties should be treated in a special way by Geant4:
      (see examples/OpticalSurfaces/compact/ReadMaterialProperties.xml)
      -- the tag Geant4-ignore hides the material property entirely from the Geant4 materials
      -- the tag Geant4-custom injects the property into the Geant4 material. It may be used in user code
      and accessed from regular Geant4 materials.
      -- the tag Geant4-plugin hides the property from Geant4 and allows the usage inside Geant4 plugins.

    • Protect the usage of NON-Geant4 properties against usage (and exceptions) when converting geometries to Geant4.

    Since Geant4 version 11 the check of for an accepted material property throws a fatal exception, which forces Geant4 to call exit. This MR fixes this behavior by checking the possibility upfront by checking the property names rather than a returned negative index.

    • Remove all examples testing the conversion to LCDD.
  • 2026-03-23 Thomas Madlener (PR#1582)

    • Set the fast simulation flag for MCParticles (in EDM4hep version 1.0.1) for which at least one contribution to a calorimeter hit has been created by fast simulation.
    • Set the step length for contributions that are created by fast simulation to -1 to clearly distinguish them from those created by ordinary simulation as those by definition have a step length that is >= 0. This will only be effective if the detailed shower mode is enabled.
